Anganwadi Project - Phase 2

After our team visited the anganwadi we had built with the community a year back, they requested that we build another structure with them - a learning centre integrated with the anganwadi. The same team of youth that built the angwandi took up the building of this phase as well. The structure was completed in a week before the lockdown.
For us, the greatest success of any project is if the same people want to work together again. Based on our community meetings, we decided to build using the same technology as the previous structure, that is, with slotted angles bolted together and with wall cladding of plywood. The structure was improved to create a larger column free space based on the feedback of the anganwadi worker and helper who found the columns in the anganwadi an obstruction while using floor mats. A big shout out to Piyush Sharma for guiding us on the experimental structural design for the project!
We hope to get back to working with the community soon after the pandemic is under control. We would like to thank our collaborators Koshish and Digital Empowerment Foundatin for making the project possible and supporting the community through the current health crisis. Watch this space for more...
